SUMMARY:Replacing domination with dialogue - community self-organised pract
 ices
DESCRIPTION:Gender-based violence and authoritarian politics reinforce each
other. Community self-organisation offers a powerful response to both\, c
reating spaces for dialogue\, addressing painful conflict and harm\, and d
eveloping collaborative solutions that consider diverse perspectives.\n\nR
ather than relying on critique alone\, we need viable alternatives that en
gage with the concerns of everyone involved. This workshop explores how co
mmunities\, families and organisations can organise around conflict and ha
rm.\n\nDrawing on 30 years of practical experience by Dominic Barter and c
olleagues\, beginning in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro\, the workshop expl
ores community-led approaches to conflict\, resource distribution\, educat
ion and mental health. Rather than offering ready-made models\, it invites
participants to discover solutions rooted in their own communities and ci
 rcumstances.
